Visitors Welcome

Mom and Dad come for a 3 week visit at the end of April. We enjoyed showing them our new digs, Ernie enjoyed playing with grandma and grandpa again, and we showed them some of the local culture. The Brown Pub (across from the Blue Pub) sponsored a golf tournament the first Sunday they were here. Our team name was THE IMPORTS. We ended up around 10th I think which wasn't bad considering mom and dad were still a bit jetlagged and had to borrow clubs, etc. The prizes are typically "pick of the table" so we all were able to get different things for the house. I chose the beer and Courtney chose the rice cooker. Most people thought there was a problem with that, but I was thrilled!

After a week at home we took off on a true kiwi adventure. None of this touristy thing, we took them where most tourists don't ever venture. Up and over passes we went only for them to find out we were staying in this renovated church that had been relocated up in the bushland. We slept in the choir loft and had some fishing adventures. See other blog posts for more info on the fishing.

Next we headed over to an area called Hanmer Springs. That is a thermal hot pool area that is very quaint surrounded by some incredible mountains. We decided a photo of us at the pools was probably not something we wanted to post on the blog. If you come to visit, though, we will take you there so you can see for yourself.

The hilight of our trip was heading northeast to Kaikoura. This coastal town is well known for whalewatching. We took a boat trip out and were able to view 2 sperm whales, pods of dusky and hector dolphins, and heaps of fur seals. It was a very successful trip. See another blog post for further information on these incredible animals.

To finish off their trip we took them out the back just outside of Methven to a renovated sheep shearers hut. Other friends joined in the fun as well. 4 wheel driving, hiking, relaxing, eating and drinking... Photos are yet to be downloaded so check back in a few days.
We welcome any visitors to come to NZ. Just get here and we can then help organize your travels. It is an amazing trip. We hear that there are some incredible prices on flights right now, so long as you are not travelling during the holidays.
