Hello to all of our fishing friends around the world.

Although we have not gotten out as much as we should, when we have been out, we have had success. The goal of the trip with Deb, Scoot and the Boys was to get them onto some NZ brown trout no matter how big or how small. Everyone hears these great stories of NZ trout but have to see it for themselves to believe it. Although we ran into a few snags, not only on trees but closed waters, high waters, tough crossings, etc. we were still successful.

Scoot was able to hook into a few fish, some netted, some not. The one he was most proud of was around 5-6 pounds. It was a good fight and well worth it! (Even Ernie approved)

Court hooked into a few more along the way and had the boys try to reel them in. The terms "let it run" and "strip, strip, reel, reel" were heard quite a bit along the way. Although the boys don't have photos to prove their fish, they had the excitement of fighting those sought after NZ browns. (Jack will be frustrated if I don't admit to the fact that
I was the one who lost his fish as it put its head into the net, but the body never seemed to quite follow. Sorry Jack.)

The fish of the trip had to be Debbie's NZ salmon that she caught! She put the rest of us to shame. On the same river that Scoot caught his, same fly, same pool, same casting area... WHAM! Strike indicator moves and everyone yells "Fish!" She calmly sets the hook, a bit delayed by CJ's standards, and strips in line. Finally gets the fish on the reel and gets it to the surface. As it gets closer we see the beast and realize it is the fish of a lifetime. Courtney helped her get to it and she realized she foul hooked it in the tail. The fish was still alive, though and was able to be caught and released. Debbie was very proud to say that she caught a fish in NZ!!
