Birthday/New Years

We ended 2007 with a lot of fun. Courtney insisted on making his own birthday dinner and Jen did not argue with that. He made his homemade ravioli and we invited Ross and Trudy over to join in the celebration.

New Years was a cold rainy day here, so not much was done. We drove up the Mt. Hutt road to see if we could see the sunset, but too cloudy. We realized how lucky we were in the States to be able to rely on the New York New Year so that we could go to bed. We are the first one in our neck of the woods so felt pretty guilty going to bed at 9:00. Oh well, Fun was had by all.

New Years day needed to continue the tradition of a good hike to rid of all if the impurities of 2007 and start on the fitness tour of 2008. We knew David Dunn would be proud of us. So Ross and Trudy took the three of us (Ernie was included) on a 6 hour bush/back country trek. It roamed through rainforest, mountain bushline and above bushline, riverbeds, etc. It was fantastic! Realized that we hadn't taken the time to do that often enough in the past few months and have set it a goal to wander the bush before visitors come so we can share walks with them too. Get ready Christmas 2008 visitors!! :0)
